Unlike traditional text-based AI, Genix Copilot integrates seamlessly with industrial environments, delivering immediate insights to optimize operations. ABB estimates significant cost savings in operations, enhanced production efficiency, and improved sustainability metrics such as energy optimization and reduced emissions.

“At ABB, digitalization and AI are at the core of delivering more value to our customers, with a substantial part of our R&D workforce dedicated to digital, AI and software. Collaboration of ABB and Microsoft on generative AI is an important step in driving innovation and shaping the future of industry, helping our customers outrun–leaner and cleaner,” said Peter Terwiesch, president, ABB Process Automation. “With Genix Copilot, we can bring a new era of user experience, collaboration and consumerization of real-time actionable insights across roles. By embedding Genix Copilot capabilities in our Genix solutions, we’re empowering customers to make faster, data-driven decisions that help them improve productivity, efficiency and sustainability.”

“Working with ABB, we’re truly pushing the boundaries of what generative AI can do for industry. Genix Copilot has the potential to transform industrial operations, offering customers a practical, easy-to-use tool that enhances efficiency, productivity and sustainability,” said Sonja Meindl, enterprise commercial director, Microsoft Switzerland.

The architecture of Genix Copilot is built to process data from a variety of sources, including shop floor operations, operator interactions, enterprise systems, unstructured data, and metadata, providing comprehensive insights with natural language support.

Its user-friendly, conversational interface allows users to query operational metrics such as asset health, performance, and fault analysis, offering clear, concise responses. For instance, a maintenance manager can request a summary of the day’s activities at their plant, highlighting critical assets needing attention, root cause analysis, and work order status.

Genix Copilot offers a role-based user experience, delivering real-time, actionable insights to various organizational functions—from executives to engineers. The solution emphasizes data security and captures operator knowledge, enabling collaborative decision-making across departments.

Three use cases seeing early adoption:

  • Genix Asset Performance Management Copilot offers an intuitive interface for maintenance teams, delivering real-time insights in natural language, summarizing key events, and providing actionable recommendations, along with predictive maintenance insights to enhance asset performance and reduce downtime.
  • Genix My Measurement Assistant Copilot simplifies troubleshooting and maintenance by using AI to quickly access relevant documentation, error codes, and spare part information.
  • Genix Sustainability Insights Copilot aids industries in tracking and improving sustainability efforts by offering actionable insights into energy consumption and emissions management.
