Diodes Incorporated has announced the recent expansion of its industry-best-selling DML30xx series to include four new high-current smart load switch models.
The new switch models DML3008LFDS, DML3010ALFDS, DML3011ALFDS, and DML3012LDC support current ratings from 10.5A to 15A and control power domains for voltage rails ranging from 0.5V to 20V.
Their chip-on-chip design consists of a controller chip stacked on top of a low RDS(ON) N-channel power MOSFET, resulting in an ultra-compact switch footprint for increased power density. Large underside heat pads are further included to improve thermal efficiency, reduce operating temperatures, and enhance reliability. Power consumption is minimized with a typical on-state current of <150μA and a standby mode current of 0.1μA.
Due to the high integration level of these load switches, the need for additional circuitry is reduced, thereby lowering overall component counts, shrinking PCB areas, and accelerating time to market. The devices further include added safeguards and monitoring features to enhance system reliability and uptime, such as short-circuit and overcurrent protection, undervoltage lockout, power good signal, and a soft-start feature to limit inrush current. Additionally, they offer quick discharge capabilities and thermal shutdown protection.
Designed to enhance power delivery to microcontrollers, graphic cards, ASICs, FPGAs, and memory chips, the four new models of the DML30xx series are ideal for power management applications in servers, computing hardware, networking infrastructure, gateways, solid-state drives, notebooks, tablets, industrial equipment, hot-swappable devices, and peripheral ports.
The models DML3008LFDS, DML3010ALFDS, and DML3011ALFDS are available in V-DFN2020-8 (2mm x 2mm) packages and are priced at $0.75 each for 3,000-piece quantities. The DML3012LDC is available in a V-DFN3030-12 (3mm x 3mm) package and is priced at $1.07 each for 3,000-piece quantities.
