Emerson has announced the launch of its Nigel™ AI Advisor, now integrated into the company’s flagship NI LabVIEW™ and NI TestStand™ software platforms. Designed to simplify workflows and increase productivity, Nigel represents Emerson’s first step in embedding test-optimized artificial intelligence into its trusted portfolio of test and measurement tools. The release is targeted at engineers working in semiconductor, electronics, and transportation sectors who face increasing complexity in validating and automating systems.

Nigel is built on advanced large language models and is specifically trained to understand NI software. It acts as a real-time advisor, offering intelligent suggestions for streamlining tasks, analyzing code, and improving test execution. Engineers can input natural language prompts to receive tailored function recommendations, allowing for faster test development while maintaining complete control over data through a secure cloud-based architecture.
“The launch of Nigel AI Advisor represents another game-changing NI innovation that will redefine what is possible with test and measurement,” said Ritu Favre, president of Emerson’s test and measurement business. “Nigel reduces test complexity, enabling engineers to focus on their own innovation and business goals.”
First introduced at the NI Connect conference, Nigel is the first in a series of AI-driven releases planned by Emerson for its NI LabVIEW+ Suite. The suite includes additional software tools developed to automate measurement, analysis, and test operations through integrated workflows. Emerson’s continued AI investment is expected to expand Nigel’s functionality across the broader test software portfolio.
Looking ahead, Emerson plans to extend Nigel’s capabilities to support additional use cases, helping engineers minimize time spent on repetitive tasks and shift resources to more advanced development. As the underlying models evolve, Nigel is expected to become increasingly intelligent and adaptive to industry-specific needs.
