The Infineon AURIX TC4x microcontroller powers next-gen ECU software for software-defined vehicles.

This partnership addresses the growing demand for autonomous driving, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), vehicle electrification, and enhanced passenger experiences by equipping automotive manufacturers with powerful tools to meet next-generation vehicle requirements. BMW has worked closely with Siemens and Infineon to integrate this technology into its future vehicle platforms, using a cloud-based software development process facilitated by Siemens’ advanced tools.

“Our collaboration with Infineon is long established and highly successful, providing leading automotive customers with advanced microcontrollers running AUTOSAR-based embedded software to help drive the future of the software-defined vehicle industry,” said Frances Evans, Senior Vice President, Lifecycle Collaboration Software, Siemens Digital Industries Software.

Driving Modern Automotive Systems with Advanced Tools

To meet the increasing performance demands of SDVs, Infineon’s AURIX TC4x microcontroller works in tandem with Siemens’ AUTOSAR-based embedded software. This combination addresses critical challenges in scalability, multicore functionality, cybersecurity, and functional safety. The Capital Embedded AR Classic platform simplifies the homologation process for OEMs by offering pre-validated software that supports compliance with safety and cybersecurity standards.

“Infineon has contributed to the AUTOSAR standard since 2004 and provides AUTOSAR solutions for its microcontroller portfolio like the AURIX TC4x,” said Thomas Schneid, Senior Director Software, Partnership and Ecosystem Management at Infineon. “Our collaboration with Siemens Digital Industries Software focuses on delivering advanced microcontrollers equipped with AUTOSAR-based embedded software to empower OEMs in driving the future of the software-defined vehicle.”

The AURIX TC4x microcontroller is essential for controlling key vehicle systems, including electric powertrains, battery management, radar, ADAS, and chassis control. These systems benefit from the microcontroller’s integration of virtualization, AI-based modeling, and network functionality, enabling automotive manufacturers to implement innovative electrical/electronic (E/E) architectures.

Paving the Way for Next-Generation SDVs

The AURIX TC4x microcontroller represents a leap forward in vehicle technology, combining performance and power efficiency to support advanced SDV features. Siemens’ Capital™ Embedded AR Classic software complements these capabilities by offering a robust AUTOSAR platform optimized for functional safety and cybersecurity. Together, these tools empower automakers to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for SDVs.

Through this collaboration, Infineon and Siemens provide a foundation for accelerated development cycles and improved system integration, enabling faster delivery of cutting-edge automotive technologies. This partnership ensures that SDVs can meet the evolving demands of electrification, autonomy, and user-centric design, supporting the future of the automotive industry.
