KYOCERA AVX, a global manufacturer of advanced electronic components, has released two new series of vibration-proof aluminum electrolytic capacitors designed for industrial applications exposed to high levels of mechanical stress and elevated operating temperatures. The new AEVA and AEVB Series combine compact surface-mount packages with plastic supports engineered to improve vibration resistance and specially shaped terminations that increase soldering area and board-mounting strength, allowing the capacitors to withstand peak acceleration of up to 30g.
KYOCERA AVX AEVA and AEVB Series vibration-proof aluminum electrolytic capacitors are designed for harsh industrial environments, with peak acceleration ratings of up to 30g and operating temperatures extending to +125°C.
Both series incorporate liquid electrolyte dielectrics to provide high-CV performance in smaller packages than can be found among conventional can-type aluminum electrolytic capacitors, while also offering very low equivalent series resistance, low leakage and extended endurance. Leakage is rated at no more than 0.01CV or 3 μA, whichever is greater, with both families supporting operating temperatures up to +125°C. The AEVA Series operates from -55°C to +125°C and provides endurance of up to 4,000 hours at rated voltage and +125°C, while the AEVB Series operates from -40°C to +125°C and provides endurance of up to 5,000 hours under the same rated-voltage and temperature conditions.
The AEVA Series is available in five case sizes with voltage ratings from 6.3 to 100 VDC and capacitance values ranging from 10 to 4,700 μF ±20%. The AEVB Series is offered in four case sizes with ratings from 16 to 50 VDC and capacitance values from 47 to 2,200 μF ±20%. Both series are halogen-free, lead-free compatible and RoHS compliant, and are supplied on 15-inch reels for reflow soldering and automated surface-mount placement. With their combination of vibration resistance, high-temperature capability and compact construction, the capacitors are designed to support applications including robotics, embedded motor control units, photovoltaic inverters, power tools, DC/DC converters and uninterruptible power supplies, as well as other industrial equipment operating under similarly demanding mechanical and thermal conditions.
