Design of the 59177 Series magnetic reed switch family measures just 9.0 mm x 2.5 mm x 2.4 mm (0.354” x 0.098‘’ x 0.094”), making it the smallest overmolded reed switch now offered by Littelfuse.  Despite its ultraminiature footprint, this switch can handle up to 170 Vdc or 0.25 A at up to 10 W, ensuring optimal performance in demanding applications.

With its low power consumption, the 59177 Series may be specified within low-power applications to save energy and boost battery device efficiency. The switch’s overmolded design ensures higher mechanical shock and vibration resistance, allowing for flexibility of use in challenging applications.

The 59177 Series ultra-minature magnetic reed switch further presents a number of design, manufacturing, and end-user advantage, beyond its compact size and low power consumption. Its low-profile design facilitates ease of integration into space-constrained environments, with an SMD package that enables standard assembly mounting via pick-and-place machines. The switch’s performance specifications also make suitable for use in wet and harsh environments, with continued reliable operation in diverse conditions and no performance degradation over its extended service life. In addition, the switch exhibits no leakage current in its ‘open’ state, and thereby rendering it particularly suitable for use in battery-powered IoT applications.

design flexibility makes it a perfect fit for:With its compact size and low power usage, it’s a dependable solution for high-speed switching applications.

  • security and access control systems,
  • metering applications,
  • battery-powered consumer electronics and wearables,
  • factory automation,
  • process equipment, and
  • proximity and limit sensing.

Of the new product launch, Julius Venckus, Global Product Manager at Littelfuse, noted, “The 59177 is our smallest overmolded reed switch with J-type feet (lead) design. Its enhanced mechanical shock and vibration capability allows designers more flexibility for mechanically challenged applications, saving valuable space on the printed circuit board.”

The 59177 Reed Switch Series is available in tape and reel quantities of 1500 pieces. Detailed product specifications, samples, and pricing information are available via Littelfuse distributors worldwide.
